About the Letter Grade Calculator
The calculator uses a multi formula configuration. Each reported value is read as a direct evaluation of the stored rules with the declared field formats and units.
Formula basis:
Letter grade is determined from the percentage using the standard 10-point scale
93%+ = A, 90-92% = A-, 87-89% = B+, etc.
GPA points correspond to the standard 4.0 scale
Interpret the outputs in the order shown by the result fields. Optional inputs affect only the outputs that depend on those variables.
Formula & How It Works
The calculation applies the following relations exactly as recorded in the metadata: Letter grade is determined from the percentage using the standard 10-point scale 93%+ = A, 90-92% = A-, 87-89% = B+, etc. GPA points correspond to the standard 4.0 scale Each output field is produced by substituting the supplied inputs into the relevant relation and then applying the declared rounding or text format.
Worked Examples
Example 1: Score of 91.5%
Inputs
With Percentage Score = 91.5 as the stated inputs, the result is Letter Grade = A-, GPA Points = 3.7 and Grade Range = 90-92%. Each value corresponds to the declared output fields.
Example 2: Score of 79.8%
Inputs
With Percentage Score = 79.8 as the stated inputs, the result is Letter Grade = C+, GPA Points = 2.3 and Grade Range = 77-79%. Each value corresponds to the declared output fields.
Example 3: Score of 62.4%
Inputs
With Percentage Score = 62.4 as the stated inputs, the result is Letter Grade = F, GPA Points = 0 and Grade Range = 0-62%. Each value corresponds to the declared output fields.
Example 4: Score of 95.0%
Inputs
With Percentage Score = 95 as the stated inputs, the result is Letter Grade = A, GPA Points = 4 and Grade Range = 93-100%. Each value corresponds to the declared output fields.
