About the Carbohydrate Intake Calculator

Carbohydrate Intake is treated here as a quantitative relation between Daily Calorie Goal, Body Weight and Carb% of Daily Calories and Daily Carb Target, Carb Calories, Carbs per kg body weight and Recommended Fiber.

The calculator uses a multi formula configuration. Each reported value is read as a direct evaluation of the stored rules with the declared field formats and units.

Formula basis:
Carb Calories = Total Calories x Carb%
Carb Grams = Carb Calories / 4
Carbs/kg = Carb Grams / Body Weight
Fiber target = 14g per 1,000 kcal
Added Sugar limit = 10% of calories / 4

Interpret the outputs in the order shown by the result fields. Optional inputs affect only the outputs that depend on those variables.

Formula & How It Works

The calculation applies the following relations exactly as recorded in the metadata:

Carb Calories = Total Calories x Carb%
Carb Grams = Carb Calories / 4
Carbs/kg = Carb Grams / Body Weight
Fiber target = 14g per 1,000 kcal
Added Sugar limit = 10% of calories / 4

Each output field is produced by substituting the supplied inputs into the relevant relation and then applying the declared rounding or text format.

Worked Examples

Example 1: Standard Balanced Diet — 2,000 kcal, 40%

Inputs

calories: 2000 weight_kg: 70 carb_pct: 40
Daily Carb Target: 200 g. Carb Calories: 800 kcal. Carbs per kg body weight: 2.86 g/kg. Recommended Fiber: 28 g. Added Sugar Limit: 50 g

With Daily Calorie Goal = 2,000, Body Weight = 70 and Carb% of Daily Calories = 40 as the stated inputs, the result is Daily Carb Target = 200 g, Carb Calories = 800 kcal and Carbs per kg body weight = 2.86 g/kg. Each value corresponds to the declared output fields.

Example 2: Endurance Cyclist — 3,200 kcal, 60%

Inputs

calories: 3200 weight_kg: 75 carb_pct: 60
Daily Carb Target: 480 g. Carb Calories: 1,920 kcal. Carbs per kg body weight: 6.4 g/kg. Recommended Fiber: 45 g. Added Sugar Limit: 80 g

With Daily Calorie Goal = 3,200, Body Weight = 75 and Carb% of Daily Calories = 60 as the stated inputs, the result is Daily Carb Target = 480 g, Carb Calories = 1,920 kcal and Carbs per kg body weight = 6.4 g/kg. Each value corresponds to the declared output fields.

Example 3: Low-Carb Dieter — 1,800 kcal, 20%

Inputs

calories: 1800 weight_kg: 80 carb_pct: 20
Daily Carb Target: 90 g. Carb Calories: 360 kcal. Carbs per kg body weight: 1.13 g/kg. Recommended Fiber: 25 g. Added Sugar Limit: 45 g

With Daily Calorie Goal = 1,800, Body Weight = 80 and Carb% of Daily Calories = 20 as the stated inputs, the result is Daily Carb Target = 90 g, Carb Calories = 360 kcal and Carbs per kg body weight = 1.13 g/kg. Each value corresponds to the declared output fields.

Example 4: Ketogenic Diet — 1,600 kcal, 5%

Inputs

calories: 1600 weight_kg: 70 carb_pct: 5
Daily Carb Target: 20 g. Carb Calories: 80 kcal. Carbs per kg body weight: 0.29 g/kg. Recommended Fiber: 22 g. Added Sugar Limit: 40 g

With Daily Calorie Goal = 1,600, Body Weight = 70 and Carb% of Daily Calories = 5 as the stated inputs, the result is Daily Carb Target = 20 g, Carb Calories = 80 kcal and Carbs per kg body weight = 0.29 g/kg. Each value corresponds to the declared output fields.
